Quit swimming two years ago in high school, and I have recently been practicing occasionally. I am having insane improvements. Anyone share this experience?

I was just wondering if anyone related.

Almost exactly two years ago, in my senior year of high school, I quit competitive swimming. I was practicing 6-7 times a week.

Now, as a sophomore in college, I have been swimming at the gym twice a week for the past month or so. And I assumed I would be super out of shape, since its been so long. I am doing the lightest practices: mostly around a total of 600 yards. I started swimming again since it helps so much as a post cool down from lifting weights.

I usually do sprints at the end, and today I swam some insane times. I did a wall push for a 25 yard freestyle sprint in 10 seconds! I was astonished and in disbelief when I looked at the clock. In my years of high school, I never even went close to those times in practice.
