Hello! I'm between adding more days at the pool or starting to do some strength work. Here's the situation:
I learned how to swim when I was two years old, but quit the lessons when I was around twelve or thirteen year old. I went back for a year when I was fifteen. Now I'm twenty years old. A month ago I started taking lessons again and fell in love. My goal is to swim in open waters one day and have a good physical state in general.
I take two swimming lessons a week, plus a training day where I go on my own to practice. I would add more lessons, but that's not possible; what I can do, is add more free days. But on the other hand, I've been recommended with some strength classes. I like what the teacher does, it's all about conscious bodyweight work. I like the idea of gaining strength and thought it would complement my swimming?
I can't do both, for budget issues. I love swimming, but being a newbie I'm afraid of starting bad habits while doing it bYpracticing more alone than supervised. And I really like the idea of strength training, but it's again something new to start and I don't know if I'll be able to keep them up. (They're asynchronic classes, he checks my physical state, then designs a plan from there and show me the excercises, I do them and film myself so he can correct them. But it's up to me to build the habit and be constant in my practice)
Any advice? I want to be the best swimmer I can be.
