Hi everyone,
I am a swimmer, which is why I am posting this question here, even though I realise that this question isn't specific to swimming.
During the lockdown I have gained some weight and now that the restrictions are easing up (at least here in my country) I am looking to continue trying to lose this weight in a healthy manner. I have tried restricting my calories but found that this interfered a lot with my swimming. It made me feel as if I couldn't swim properly. As I want to lose weight in a healthy manner, I don't want to continue going down that path.
My idea now is to simply swim as much as possible and not go into a calorie deficit (and also not eat many more calories than necessary). But I wonder: will this help me lose my corona weight? Let's say I swim more and I gain more muscle, will that lead to a decrease of fat? Or do you really have to go into a calorie deficit in order to lose excessive fat?
I realise it is a somewhat specific question (any dieticians out there?). Anyone else have experience with wanting to lose weight but not wanting to feel too weak to swim properly?
Thanks in advance!
