Hi,
I am a former junior competitive swimmer. I swam from approximately 2008 to 2015 competitively (training 6 to 7 times per week) and then did a year of water-polo / amateur swimming 2 times per week, but I then had to stop due to university, and almost haven't swam at all since 2016. I am now 22M and I would like to get back at it because I kind of miss it and have some spare time. I am extremely out of shape (60kg for 180cm / 132 lbs for 5'9) and have lost all my muscles and endurance due to inactivity. Is there a way I could get back into intensive swimming or is it even possible regaining my former shape, speed and endurance? What kind of training (outside and inside of water) would you recommend ? I would like to rejoin my former club but I guess there is no point for me to train with them for now, as I would be completely behind and exhausted after 200 meters. I don't think I have lost the technique, though.
(When I talk about former shape, for reference, it would mean swimming approximately 5-6 km in a span of a 2-hour intensive training session. That would be my ultimate goal, if achievable.)
Thank you very much in advance!
