Training plans and memory loss

Hi there

I have a swimming coach with lessons on a weekly basis which is great for me because she tells me what to do and how much I've done etc. I also go at least once a week by myself.

When I'm by myself, I look at training plans from sites like speedo and try to stick to one of them when I get to the pool.

It sounds good in practice. However, I struggle with remembering what my plan is by the time I jump in the water; I often end up thinking about something completely off topic in my head then just swimming x amount of lengths.

Does this happen to anyone else? How do you all stick to a plan when entering the water, Is there a fitness tracker that can show you information on lengths or do you do something else for training plans.

Any suggestions are welcome!
