Hello! I have a beach lifeguard test coming up that i’ve been preparing for and I would like to know some workouts I can do everyday to prepare for my 1000yard swim that’s supposed to be completed in 20 minutes but the head guards say to aim for the 13-15 minute range. I’ve been swimming 100’s on 1:30 everyday with a 30 second break and 200’s on the 3 minute mark with a 30 second break. For the 100’s and 200’s i’ve been hitting the exact time (1:30 and 3min mark) every time I do my set. What are some sets I can do to improve my time? The other day I swam a 500 in 8 minutes, I have yet to try 1000 at once. Thank you for your time and advice!
Also, this will be an open water swim (ocean) so flip turns will not be accessible to reduce my overall time.
