How do you like to do your descend, go faster each one, sets?

I'm a Masters swimmer so it might be different for other groups but I seem to like to do my descending sets different from the other people on my team.

We tend to do descending sets of 4x100. Everyone one else tends to start slow, while I like to start at a harder pace and try and go down. For example, we do 100s on 1:45. My normalish times are 1:22-1:25 so I try and come in on 1:25 and drop down to 1:20 if I can. The other people, who are faster then I am, can do 1:20-1:23 normally, but they will start by doing a 1:30, then go down from there.

I find it a bit odd to start out really slow, but it's their swim. What does happen to me though is because they are fast they will lead the lane, but I catch up really fast the first couple and they want me to go in front of them, but then they catch up to me.

How do most people do descending sets?
