I (16F) only started swimming competitively two years ago, for a club and varsity. I wasn’t good at all but I enjoyed it decently enough (much better than any other sport). I was forced to stop a little over a year ago and wasn’t allowed back when the club season restarted last fall and it took so much convincing and I had to sacrifice the possibility of returning to school in order to be allowed to do the 6 week Fall 2 varsity swim season. For context, I wasn’t allowed outside until last summer, not to return to school until a week ago, and havent been allowed to hang out with friends since pre-covid. I was extremely weak and had gotten so much slower but by the end, I had dropped a little bit from my times at the beginning, putting me at about the same place as I was when I just started swimming two years ago. Now the seasons over and I want to keep in shape. I tried cycling (on an old hybrid bike around town) over the summer, when I was allowed out but I honestly didn’t really like it. It felt a bit boring to me since it was less time efficient and I couldn’t listen to a podcast or anything while doing it. I tried running a few times sporadically but I was quite bad and unable to keep going for a long time. I’ve been doing some YouTube body weight workouts (Lilly Sabri & Bailey Brown) but it doesn’t seem to be enough. What should I do? I really want to keep in shape and I hope I won’t be absolutely terrible next year, when I’ll most likely have to join a new team since we’re moving.
