I'm a woman in my early 30s who can kind of swim. I had lessons as a kid for a summer or two where we learned some basics, but it was mainly about learning how not to drown. After that, I'd go swimming in summers at friends houses or at hotels--mainly treading water, maybe diving for pennies, stuff like that. I haven't been in a pool for several years at this point...
But. I kind of want to learn how to do proper swimming. Learn the different styles, proper form, etc. (Backstroke especially, but I don't really know what draws me to that) I'm honestly pretty out of shape and probably would struggle to do an entire lap of an Olympic sized pool without needing a break, especially since I think swimming would use muscles I'm not used to using 😩😬
My area isn't doing group swim lessons at this time and one-on-one is limited, but I'll be eligible soon vaccination-wise.
What should I look for in an instructor? Are there certain questions I should ask? Qualifications to look for?
Or is an instructor even necessary? Could I learn this by like YouTube?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
